Dual Triode 12AX7 Tube
The Lewitt LCT 940 FET Condenser/Tube Microphone is one of the most powerful and versatile microphones on the market. It combines the warmth and smooth sound of a tube circuit with the clarity and sparkle of a condenser microphone. You can switch between the two circuits to cater to any recording application. At the heart of the LCT 940 FET is a dual triode 12A& tube designed to capture that classic warmth associated with vintage tube microphones. The tube mode is ideal for recording vocals, string ensembles, vocal groups and more. The result is a rich and warm sound, that is darker than that of the condenser’s tone. The two tones are also mixable at any ratio you desire for added flexibility, creating a truly unique sound.
FET Condenser Capsule
The FET Condenser circuitry provides the other side of studio-grade recording, with added clarity and high-end sparkle associated with modern microphones. The polarized dual-diaphragm 1-inch capsule is designed to capture every nuance from your performance, from vocalists to electric guitars and everything in between. The 3-micron, gold-layered, low-mass diaphragm can handle virtually any sound source and with the external control unit, you can cater to any sound.
Remote-Control Unit
One of the most unique features of the Lewitt LCT 940 is the external remote control unit. This compact unit boasts an illuminated interface and large, clearly-labelled controls for quick and easy use. This desktop-sized unit allows you to blend between the tube and condenser circuits to achieve the tone you require. It also features a low-cut and pre-attenuation settings for catering to different instruments and recording environments. The PSU unit features 4 settings on both the filter and the attenuation parameters, giving you more than enough choice for any sound source.
9 Selectable Polar Patterns
The remote control unit also allows you to toggle between the 9 selectable polar patterns. The polar patterns are comprised of: Omnidirectional, wide cardioid, cardioid, sueprcardioid, figure-8 and 4 intermediate patterns. The four unique intermediate patterns provide a blend between certain polar patterns to achieve a unique sound. The multi-pattern design ensures the microphone is ready for any sound source and any recording requirement, from podcasting and interviews to studio-grade vocal recordings.
Design & Construction
The sleek yet highly rugged design features an integrated pop filter and wind shield, helping to improve audio fidelity while recording. The microphone comes complete with its very own dedicated shock mount, providing optimal stability and minimal structure-borne noise. The low-noise and distortion free circuitry provides optimal audio fidelity, capturing your sound sources in immense detail. The front of the microphone also features a transparent panel that shows the tube, providing an added vintage-feel. Additionally, the microphone comes complete with its own heavy-duty case for transporting and storing your mic.
