Key Features
The PreSonus Fat Modern Classics Bundle Plug-in is a collection of three plug-ins, comprised of an EQ, compressor and limiter. The Modern Classics Bundle imprints the exact sonic character of hardware processors into your projects through meticulous and detailed modelling processes. Included with this bundle are the Baxandall EQ, Comp 160 and Everest C100A Limiting Amplifier plug-ins, providing you with all the tools to create consistent and punchy mixes and masters.
Gentle high and low shelves featured on the Bax EQ Plug-in offers unique tonal characteristics. Modelled from a vintage British-style hardware EQ, the Bax EQ Plug-in delivers gentle +/-5dB shelves across the two frequency bands. Producing idiosyncratic frequency response that delivers natural curves and musical outcomes that blend naturally with your sound. The result is a particular tonal character that's perfect for mastering applications on your stereo output or across instrument mix-busses. Take the guesswork out of compression with the Comp 160 Plug-in. Ideal for a wide range of musical genres and instruments, the VCA-style compressor/limiter delivers a highly musical response that blends naturally with your source tone with virtually no distortion. A studio staple, the Everest C100A is the apex of all dynamics processors, preserving dynamic impression whilst ensuring maximum level stability throughout your individual tracks and mixes.

Constructed to accurately recreate vintage British-style hardware EQs, the Fat Bax Plug-in delivers classic analog warmth and detail, making it ideal for mastering applications. Traditionally known for its smoothness and transparency, the Bax EQ will enhance the sound of your track whilst blending naturally to the sound, giving it a completely transparent and seamless sound. An aggressive high-frequency is perfect for adding brightness to dull tracks, especially useful for bringing out the articulation of vocal performances in the mix without increasing the level and offsetting the balance. The low-frequency dial is the perfect solution for mix-buss processing, controlling the unruly bass frequencies that can create a 'boxy' sound and eat up headroom. The most important factors in any good-sounding record are the detail in the highs and lows as these can make or break your mix. Get it right with the Fat Bax EQ Plug-in.
Ideal for mixing instruments that are heavily low-end based such as drums, bass guitars or even synthesizers, the Fat Bax EQ Plug-in lets you tighten up your low-end while adding punch and energy. The secret is the two shelves, one which boosts while the other attenuates at a slightly lower frequency. When boosting and cutting similar frequencies in the low-end, the Bax EQ Plug-in tightens up the extreme and unnecessary lows that create 'congested' and 'boxy' tracks and eat up your headroom all the while boosting higher bass frequencies for energy and movement.
In the studio, you will reach for a compressor on just about every instrument and every session. Arguably the most important and most well-used studio processor, compression is the cornerstone to creating cohesive, consistent and punchy mixes. Designed with a simple and sleek interface, Comp 160 will quickly become your go-to compressor. No unnecessary complications or menus, just a refined interface that gives you the parameters you need to get the job done on virtually any instrument that enters your session.
Boasting fixed attack and release times with only Output Gain, Compression and a switchable Threshold level parameters, the Fat Comp 160 lets you take the guesswork out of your processing. This makes it easy to dial in punchy rock bass, consistent and levelled vocals and powerful drums. Whether you're a producer or mixing engineer, the PreSonus Comp 160 lets you achieve a professional level of volume throughout your entire mix or individual tracks without ever breaking into a manual.
The worst-kept secret in all of music production is that compression matters. Styled after famous hardware VCA compressor/limiters, the Fat Comp 160 accurately replicates the character and sound of the fabled studio classic. A musical response blends perfectly with your source audio, providing a transparent sound that works on just about any instrument. Even under duress, the Comp 160 remains highly musical with ultra-low distortion to keep your signal clean and precise. However, when pushed to extreme levels of gain reduction, the PreSonus Fat Comp 160 can produce harmonic saturation for an extra layer of grit and character to your sound, ideal for aggressive styles of music such as punk, rock and metal.
The FAT Everest C100A belongs to a unique category of studio processors. Living somewhere between a limiter and compressor, the functionality of the Everest C100 far exceeds what seems possible with the basic two dials and two switch controls. A historic piece of equipment with a background in broadcast radio roots as early as 1962, the Fat Everest C100 Compressor takes the essence of the original program-dependent design and brings it to life in the modern digital age. An updated feature set ensures flexibility and functionality for the modern producer and mixing engineer, such as the onboard sidechain input with a high-pass filter and switchable attack and release times. Perfect for modern electronic music composition, the onboard sidechain filter ensures you can activate your levelling amplifier against extraneous tracks within your project, helping to achieve the signature pumping effect.
Delivered in a streamlined interface, the PreSonus Fat Everest C100A lets you dial in sounds quickly and easily. Preferred by some huge names within the industry and heard on some of the biggest albums to date including Nevermind and Jagged Little Pill, the Fat Everest C100 Compressor will quickly become your go-to for all your dynamic processing needs.
Using a completely unique design, the Fat Everest C100A delivers stunning dynamic retention whilst maintaining the perfect level. What sets the Everest C100A apart from the rest is the automatic amplification of your audio signal, bringing back any gain that was lost through compression. This way, your track level remains constant and is processed dynamically as opposed to a traditional compressor which acts when a threshold is exceeded.
Packaged in a highly intuitive interface, PreSonus Everest C100A has two simple controls and two switches, Gain Reduction and Gain and switchable attack and release times. With roughly +40dB of gain available, no matter how much compression you apply to your track, you will be able to bring the level back up to commercial standards.
Traditionally, this American-style limiting amplifier has internally fixed attack and release times, dynamically moving to your input source. Whilst still being source-dependent, Everest boasts a switchable attack and release time to cater to your instrument and mix perfectly. With an average attack time of 10ms, Everest performs exceptionally on transient-heavy instruments such as drum shells. The non-linear release makes the Everest C100A compressor perform in a constant state, increasing release time depending on the strength of your input signal. This fluidity means that the Everest is the ideal candidate for mastering and mixing applications, ensuring that your track remains glued together with a consistent level and response whilst preserving the dynamics for a punchy and powerful sound.
