Key Features
The Tenderfoot Cells Expander for Lattice adds a tremendous level of flexibility and functionality to your Lattice module. Designed around a familiar 3x4 grid of keys that each represent a step, the Cells adds a forward/reverse playback mode, selectable by CV or the dedicated button, a random step trigger input that selects a random step on the Lattice when it receives a trigger or gate, a step-select CV input that can take a positive voltage envelope or LFO and selects the corresponding voltage stage on the Lattice and a gated output.
Opening up a new dynamic to how your sequences are programmed, Cells provides you with the opportunity to play your Lattice module like an instrument, rather than setting it as a traditional sequencer. Each key press will retrigger the corresponding step, allowing you to 'play' in your sequence in any way you want to create fresh melodies that can enhance your performance and music. Skip between stages or add gated and ratcheted notes to your sequence to create movement and fluidity that will keep your listeners engaged to let your music stand out from the crowd. Use all of the available inputs to produce rich and complex melodies with varying rhythms to create otherworldly sounds that give you inspiration every time you pick up the Cells.

Building on the intuitive nature of the Tenderfoot Lattice, the Cells brings functionality that can help you transform your sequences and bring new ideas to your performances. The Lattice was developed to be quick and easy to use, freeing itself from the shackles of overcomplication, the Cells now bridges the gap and lets you continue to focus on creating beautiful and complex melodies quickly and easily, whilst also giving you more options to chose from. Cells adds a forward/reverse mode controllable with CV or the onboard button, random step selection triggerable by CV, CV selection of the current step and a gate output.
Revolving around a set of 3x4 keypads, the Cells seamlessly links these keys to the corresponding steps in the Lattice sequencer. Pushing these keys will cause the sequence to jump to that location, enabling you to use the Cells more like an instrument as opposed to a sequencer. Skip rows, columns and stages of your sequence to create a repeating stage of three or even four-step sequences, producing fresh and interesting melodies for your music.
In standard gate mode, pressing a key will cause the gate output to disable the sequence from moving from that sequence location. In alternative gate mode, the gate will output a ratcheting sequence of gates when a key is pressed, based on the input gate signals. This is particularly useful when you want to add staccato effects to your music, maintaining flow and tempo whilst adding movement. When in either gate mode, the sequence will stop for however long the key is pressed down, putting you in control of your melodic phrases.
Forwards/reverse mode can be controlled by a button or with a gate signal. This reverses the sequencer behaviour when this input receives a signal over 2.5V or the button is pressed. The ideal solution to create arpeggio-like sounds where your sequence will fall up and down and cascade into new territories. The random step input will place the sequence in a random step location whenever a signal is present. The CV input allows you to address the sequencer location, moving the sequence along in an order based on the level of the incoming control voltage.
