The reissued Peavey 6505 II Head: A legend returns
Peavey's 6505 II Head is a legendary amplifier that helped create an entire genre of music, and to mark its 30th anniversary, Peavey is proud to launch the reissued 6505 II Head. The reissue is true to form cosmetically and sonically, with a top-secret output transformer made in an undisclosed location to mimic the magical, crushing tone of the original series.
Improved consistency and tone
After countless hours of A/B comparisons, conversations with scores of users and artists, and deep dives into the amplifier at a component level, Peavey discovered some items had drifted, resulting in a midrange that varied from amp to amp. In response, they developed a top-secret output transformer, which has improved consistency and tone. The reissued 6505 II Head includes six 12AX7 preamp tubes and four 6L6GC power amp tubes, and has separate equaliser and power amp controls for each channel.
Effortless footswitch sound shaping
Elevate your guitar sound with the Crunch and Bright switches on the Rhythm channel. The Crunch switch delivers a gritty, aggressive tone perfect for heavy metal and hard rock, while the Bright switch adds clarity and definition to your sound. With footswitch control, you can easily toggle these features on and off during your performance, giving you complete control over your tone. Discover the iconic sound of heavy metal and hard rock with the Peavey 6505 MKII 120W Amp Head and its powerful tone control features.
Channel-specific equalisers and controls
The Peavey 6505 MKII 120W Amp Head gives you complete control over your sound with separate equaliser sections for each channel. This allows you to fine-tune your tone to match your playing style and preferences, whether you're playing clean or adding distortion and overdrive.
But that's not all - the amp head also features separate power amp controls (Resonance and Presence) for each channel, giving you even more control over your sound. These controls let you adjust the low-end and high-end frequencies to create a more balanced and defined sound that cuts through the mix.
And with separate preamp controls (Pre and Post Gain) for each channel, you can adjust the levels of distortion and overdrive to suit your playing style and the requirements of your performance.
Features to satisfy any distortion devotee
The Peavey 6505 II Head has a range of features, including two distinct tube channels with footswitch control, LED “active” indicators for each channel, a bright switch for Rhythm channel, and a crunch switch on Rhythm channel with footswitch control. It also includes a bias test point on the rear panel, an effects loop with footswitch control, and a metal three-button footswitch with a detachable 25" cable.
