The EMG Pickups PJ Set offers active 4-string bass guitar pickups that deliver an incredibly wide range of tonal combinations. When installed, you can use the P or J pickup together or separate to provide endless bass tone options that can accommodate both contemporary and traditional playing styles.
Both pickups are designed with ceramic magnets and a low noise output to deliver high quality tones that are dependable, ranging from tight slap funk and rock, to smooth Motown grooves. EMG’s PJ set comprises of a P pickup and a LJ pickup, designed with ceramic magnets and steel pole pieces to deliver amazing clarity and sonic range. The P is a split coil design that covers a wide sonic palette for classic and modern bass sounds, offering a natural presence, excellent definition, and low noise of an active pickup. Its short squat coils offer a high end articulation with incredible warmth and low end punch. The LJ on the other hand offers incredible sweeping harmonic overtones and punch, with an array of jazz characteristics. The pickup has a broader dynamic tonal frequency range then the P pickup, adding dimensions and clarity to your playing style.
EMG, which stands for Electro-Magnetic Generator, was founded in 1976 by Rob Turner in California USA under the name Dirtywork Studios. The first pickup they created is the same as the EMG H and HA models of today, and soon became standard equipment on all of Steinberger’s basses and guitars. Now EMG pickups develop a range of pickups and EQ accessories, with their active pickups favoured by hard rock and metal players, leading them to become standard equipment on a range of guitar models from BC rich, ESP, Schecter, Cort, Gibson, Dean, Ibanez, and Jackson Guitars. The Company have also designed a range of signature pickups in collaboration with renowned guitarists, Kerry King and Zakk Wylde being the longest running artists they have been working with.
