Jack DeJohnette was one of the most influential figures in the jazz world during the 20th century, supporting a range of musicians including Bill Evans, Miles Davis, and Herbie Hancock. Born in Chicago, DeJohnette began his musical career as a pianist at age 4 and began to play professionally at age 14. Soon after, Jack switched his focus to drums, which he became famous for. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, DeJohnette played alongside many leading jazz musicians at the time, and more recently in 2004, Jack was nominated for a Grammy Award and was also inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 2007. DeJohnette's unique style has been recognised across the jazz drumming industry for his creativity and originality.
