The beautifully carved body and double cutaway allows easier access to the higher frets, for a comfortable performance during gigs or studio sessions. The Epiphone 1966 G-400 SG is powered by a pair of Alnico Classic PRO Humbuckers, for producing the iconic SG tone that is reminiscent of the 60s, with plenty of bite. For even more versatility, the 1966 = G-400 SG is equipped with push/pull coil tapping via the volume controls; in order to achieve tight, crisp tones. With quality hardware on-board, the 1966 G-400 PRO SG provides reliable and stable tuning with a LockTone bridge and Stopbar, and Grover 14:1 tuners. When the SG, or "Solid Guitar," was introduced in 1960 as a replacement for the Les Paul Standard, it was called the "fretless wonder" for its low frets and fast action. The twin horn cutaway design was like nothing on the market and its light but balanced weight made it the perfect guitar for stage and studio work. The powerful sound of a humbucker equipped SG has become the go-to guitar for artists such as The Who's Pete Townshend, Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi, Paul Weller, AC/DC's Angus Young, Eric Clapton and Derek Trucks of the Allman Brothers Band.
