The ukulele’s body, neck, and fingerboard are all crafted from the same block of maple, removing the possibilities of any panels from coming away from each other and improving the overall sustain. As a fully electric ukulele, the maple body doesn’t require a chamber to create a sound, allowing Risa to place the tuners in the body and remove the headstock to keep its size down. Using maple for the whole ukulele provides an incredibly bright tonal characteristics, while the smooth surface allows easy position changes.
The Risa Uke-Solid is probably the smallest soprano ukulele on the market, while still offering 14 frets and a 14.2” scale length. Placing the tuners on the body helps remove the head stock, and its simplistic body is designed to be as small as possible. While this does result in loss of sound acoustically, electronically the ukulele will stand its own against the best. A passive shadow piezo pickup is all you need to deliver incredibly clear, bright tones with strong presence throughout the frequency range.
