Constructed from a mahogany body and neck with a set-in design, the PRS S2 Starla offers a warm and resonant tone with plenty of depth and grind. Mahogany is a medium to heavy wood, creating a strong and sturdy design that will stand up to the gigging musicians lifestyle. The neck’s set-in construction delivers an advanced sustain, as the increased contact between the neck and body allows vibrations to transfers easily between the neck heel and body.
Delivering the PRS Guitar’s powerful tones are the two Starla humbuckers, producing grinding chords and crisp sharpness which a recognisable bright characteristic. The pickup’s singular balance and clarity allows single notes to sing, while the thick and muscular midrange gives it plenty of depth. The neck pickup provides an excellent blues-like, warm tones with a prominent low end, while the bridge pickup offers a sharp, solid sound that cuts though the mix.
Incorporating a push/pull coil tap control on the tone pot, the PRS guitar can produce a range of sounds and tones perfect for versatile guitarists. Simply push/pull the tone control to switch the pickup between crisp single-coil sounds and strong, punchy humbucker tones. The 3-way pickup selector is used to create amazing tones for a range of music styles.
The Starla features a stunning Bigsby B-50 system, with an adjust-o-matic bridge providing excellent intonation and a tremolo tailpiece offering beautifully classic vibrato effect. The system is designed with a roller bridge system and a spring-loaded arm which pushes down on the strings to adjust tension to a lower pitch. The pressure spring counterbalances the natural tension of the string, allowing the guitar to hold its tuning when in the neutral position.
