The Tama Superstar 22" Hyperdrive Maple classic Tama T-Shape badge and streamlined low-mass single lugs point to the Superstar's seventies design whereas the Star Mount System provides a more modern and practical edge.

Maple Shells

The Tama Superstar Hyperdrive Maple has been constructed from select maple and then expertly crafted through the same methods as Tama's high end drums. This precise and intricate methodology results in each Tama Silverstar kit possessing a powerful sound, rich tone and warm resonance.

The full bodied and dynamic character of the Tama Superstar Hyperdrive Maple comes from select maple shells and placing emphasis on the shell moulding bearing edge shape. The Hyper Drive's short depth optimises attack and response lending to its punchy sound.

Star-Mount System

Tama's innovative Star-Mount system maximises the drums' resonance, also providing support at four separate points on the batter side hoop of the drums.

Low-Mass Lugs

The Tama low-mass lugs have been specifically designed as separate lugs for the Silverstar series. Through the reduction of the surface area that the lugs take up on the shell, a dynamic structure that does not detract from the shell's resonance is achieved.

Claw Hooks

Tama claw hooks aid in the stabilisation of the wood hoops on bass drums and feature in built rubber lining which helps protect the wood and maintain consistent tuning throughout live performances. In addition to this, rubber spacers help protect the die-cast zinc claw hooks and tension bolts from damage when the bass drum is placed on the floor.

Sound Bridge High-Tension Lugs

Sound Bridge high-tension, low-mass lugs were specifically designed for Superstar kits. Sound Bridge's unique structure looks much like a traditional high-tension lug, but the body of the lug 'floats' over the shell to minimise shell contact so the drum can resonate to its fullest. However, Sound Bridge still offers all the benefits of the traditional high-tension lug: it offsets the tension of the batter side and bottom side heads, reduces the stress on the shell, and provides greater protection to the drum shell during transport.
